This colorful coin is in one of the Non-Uncirculated GSA holders, which designated it as coming from what the GSA categorized as the “Mixed Carson City” group. The GSA sorters were obviously not as enamored with the mottled rainbow toning on the coin’s reverse as collectors are today. Demand for these “color” GSA dollars has increased dramatically in recent years.

The obverse is mostly white, with a small blush of crimson toning accentuating the upper left periphery. Contact marks are commensurate with the grade. The reverse is much freer of abrasions, and probably with its beautiful color qualifies for the MS-64 condition rating.

*Each GSA silver dollar includes a genuine GSA Certificate of Authenticity and a black box. In the case of Non-Uncirculated coins, there are two cards, one is a generic version of the cards stamped with a date and a serial number, and the other explaining why the coin was placed in the Mixed Carson City category.
