Mintage: 91,209

This piece is as original as it gets. The obverse is a solid MS-62, with small abrasions in the fields on either side of Ms. Liberty’s portrait, and a patch of dirty haze on her cheek. The luster and color are virgin quality and are veiled with a light layer of dust.

The reverse is MS-63 quality. It displays only a few small contact marks, has no dirty haze, exudes luster and lovely golden-yellow color, and is boldly struck. In fact, if the obverse matched the reverse in appearance this would be one of the finest 1890-CC double eagles in existence.

Still, we will settle for this coin being a solid MS-62 specimen, with claims to being one of the top-ten examples known.
