It’s not very often that you find much originality with Carson City gold, especially in the lower circulated grades. But on this 1876 eagle from the Carson Mint you’ll see just that. Both sides of this piece are a dirty, duller-golden orange color, and they display contact marks suitable to the grade. On the obverse, the detail in Ms. Liberty’s hair is lacking, as would be expected, and only the faintest glow emanates through the layer of grime. On the reverse, there’s some brighter golden toning around the letters in UNITED STATES. Overall, this is a nice Circulated scarce date eagle for the “CC” gold enthusiast
