Gold Half Eagles
The half eagle is one of the three gold denominations that the Carson City Mint produced in its inaugural year of 1870 and in the last year of operation 1893. The Carson City Mint did not produce any half eagles from 1885 through 1889.
Key dates in the “CC” half eagle series are the 1870-CC, the 1872-CC, the 1873-CC, the 1875-CC, the 1876-CC, the 1877-CC, and the 1878-CC.
The most common date is the 1891-CC, which accounts for approximately 38% of the surviving population.
