Mintage: 12,985

This piece possesses enough detail, luster, and bright orange-gold color to qualify for the AU-58 grade. What probably knocked it down three points were the numerous contact marks scattered across its surfaces, especially on the obverse. Still, when you compare it with other “CC” gold half eagles in AU-55, you are immediately impressed with the lack of bothersome hairlines. When you flip the coin over to its reverse, you see unquestionable AU-58 quality. One day, this high-end circulated specimen might just wind up in a three-point-highter-grade holder.
