Mintage: 4,645,000

The grade doesn’t begin to describe this coin’s appeal. The surfaces exude lots of luster and are lightly veiled with a lovely crimson and blue haze. The strike is remarkably bold on both sides, which is understandable on the reverse. But the obverse was struck with an obviously very cracked die, which is seen by the dramatic circle of squiggly raised lines around the periphery. At points, especially around the date, these die-crack lines jet off in all directions. It’s really a sight to behold.
