Mintage: 54,617

If a coin got released into circulation 139 years ago and didn’t get plucked out and put away for decades, it would show signs of heavy wear. The piece offered here fits that description to a “T.” But you know what, it’s got lots of character and it’s totally original. The surfaces are dirty grey and there’s a triangle-shaped stain near Star 1. Still, there’s good detail remaining, the date is clearly visible—as is the “CC” mintmark—and there’s even one letter in LIBERTY in sight.
