If this piece had more than two letters visible in LIBERTY on the obverse shield, it would easily qualify for the F-15 grade, or possibly even a VF-20. It certainly has the eye appeal of a higher graded coin. The surfaces are covered with a light mocha-colored haze. The peripheries are accented in darker shades of earth-tone patina. Details are incredibly sharp for the grade, and there aren’t any unsightly contact marks to complain about. This is certainly a vintage example of a half dollar from the Carson Mint’s first year of coinage production.
