Mintage: 12,462

Here is a visually stunning example of this first-year issue from the Carson Mint.  The details are sharp on all raised devices except on top of Liberty’s head.  Reflective luster emanates from beneath moderate layers of dappled creamed-coffee-colored toning.  Small scattered contact marks are barely visible beneath the patina and are no more prevalent than we’ve seen on MS-63 examples of large silver Liberty Seated coins.

The mintmark is the Widely-Spaced variety, with the tops of the two Cs parallel to each other.  A raised die line extends diagonally from the top left of the denticle below the left base of the L in DOL.

Overall, a more pleasing piece than some MS-61 and MS-62 examples we’ve seen.
