The appearance of this Centennial-Year Trade dollar from the Carson City Mint offers much to be desired. The shades of plum- green- and blue-colored toning, though moderate in some places, add to the coin’s originality. The effects of the bold strike are evident on all the high points, even on all 13 stars on the obverse. Under magnification, you can see small contact marks and scattered hairlines beneath the toning, but none of them detract from the coin’s eye appeal. Ample levels of luster beam through the blanket of patina.
