This wonderful example exudes freshness. The surfaces are lightly veiled with a delicately mottled gray-violet tint. Glowing luster peeks through in all areas. The details are sharp on all the raised devices, except for slight softness on Liberty's forelocks. A significant die clash is visible atop Liberty's lap. Two horizontal raised die lines extend from the inside of the eagle’s right wing toward its neck, and from the right of the eagle’s left leg to the inside of the left wing. Small contact marks are scattered across both sides of the coin, but aren’t visible without the aid of magnification.
You can view this lovely specimen from many different angles and discover new and intriguing characteristics every time. This piece is unquestionably one of the top five or six finest known examples of this date.
