When PCGS designated this coin as a “Strong Reverse,” they weren’t lying. This “No D” Lincoln cent is overflowing with neat and desirable characteristics. On the obverse, Lincoln’s portrait retains some of its original design, showing minor details in the hair, on the beard, and on the jacket. The color flows in and out of stages of brown-copper and bronze-copper, accenting all the devices in a pleasing manner. On the reverse, the fields are as if a layer of copper was removed, which causes the contrasting devices to jump right off the surface. Each individual line at the end of the wheat stalks is clearly visible. There are minor ticks on both sides, but nothing to cry over. This specialized coin is sure to please any Lincoln cent enthusiast looking for that elusive “No D” variety.
