Dimes
Originating from the French word disme (thought to be pronounced, “deem”) which means tenth, the dime denomination in the United States came to the forefront in 1796, a few years after the Philadelphia Mint opened. In the U.S., the term “dime” is now synonymous with ten cents, or one-tenth of one dollar.
In this category, you will find sections for various kinds of dimes: Liberty Seated dimes, Barber dimes, and Mercury dimes, to name a few.
