Seated Dimes
One of the most famous names in numismatics, Christian Gobrecht, designed the Liberty Seated image. This obverse design featured Ms. Liberty sitting, with her right hand holding a shield with the word LIBERTY on it, and her left hand holding a pole with a cap on the end. The reverse displays the words ONE DIME in the center, surrounded by a wreath. Encircling the periphery is the country’s name.
As the second-longest running series of dimes, until the more recent (and less popular) Roosevelt series, this category provides collectors with examples of some of the most desirable coins in the hobby. The rarest date in the series is the Unique 1873-CC Without Arrows, which is currently valued at over $3 million.
