An average looking coin for the grade, with rich and radiant golden-orange surfaces and scattered contact marks covering both sides. A few heavier scrapes are visible on and below the reverse eagle’s body. Several small reverse copper spots are visible.

Two points of interest about the 1920 St. Gaudens double eagle are 1) this was the first date minted in the series after a three-year hiatus, and 2) although there were only 228,250 examples of this date minted in Philadelphia, compared to San Francisco’s output of 528,500, the 1920-S is an extremely rare date, while the Philly version is considered common.
