This 1899-S half eagle is an attractive pale-yellow-orange color, with lustrous and satiny surfaces. Dust is barely evident in the crevices, accentuating the details. Some softness is also visible on the obverse portrait. Minute patches of chatter appear on both sides in the fields, and on Ms. Liberty’s face. This common-date specimen would be a quality addition in any half eagle collection.
