Barber Halves
The Barber half dollar series, the largest denomination featuring the Barber (or Liberty Head) design, began in 1892. It circulated one year less than its Barber dime and Barber quarter contemporaries, ending in 1915. The obverse features the Roman-looking head of Ms. Liberty, who is donning a Phrygian cap and laurel wreath. IN GOD WE TRUST lays at the top edge, with the date at the bottom. The reverse features a Heraldic Eagle, with an olive branch in one talon, and 13 arrows in the other. In its beak is an E PLURIBUS UNUM scroll.
The key date to the Barber half dollar series is the 1892-O, with a Micro “O.”
