We’ve had MS-61 and MS-62 examples of this type that did not match this coin's eye appeal. In fact, if it weren’t for the signs of wear on the high points and the scattered hairlines, this piece would equal some MS-63 and even some MS-64 examples in terms of eye appeal. The radiant silvery-white centers are framed with an artist’s palette of prism-like colors. This coin’s appearance is so captivating, in fact, it must have been difficult for the graders at PCGS to label it Circulated. But it obviously saw light action in commercial use before it was carefully plucked out to be preserved for posterity. The die cracks and other interesting diagnostics only add to this coin’s appeal.
