This 1943 Walking Liberty half dollar is an ideal example of “three-tiered” toning. The reverse displays “Old Album Toning”, where the central rectangular area is speckled, and the upper and lower portions display a spectrum of colors, including yellows, oranges, and greens. Similarly-colored toning encircles the obverse periphery. Very minimal contact marks are visible on this boldly-detailed half dollar. This piece would be perfect for a budget-minded collector looking for color and originality.
