This first-year, Type I Buffalo nickel has warm, butterscotch luster. The obverse shows the wear of the die from the raised die-crack that runs from the back of the Indian’s neck to the tip of his braid band. Even at the MS-65 level, you can see the softness in the words “FIVE CENTS” on the mound beneath the buffalo on the reverse.
