A variety rarity that displays this amount of detail and original luster is dazzling, to say the least. The pearly-white surfaces appear to glow in the light, and the cartwheels on the reverse are striking. A slight, champagne-colored haze is found in the fields on the obverse, and on the upper-right portion of the reverse. This patination is very minimal, and doesn’t detract from this piece’s overall appeal. Details are impressively bold, with hardly any softness visible. The “S” over “CC” mintmark diagnostic on the reverse is clearly visible with a loupe. Minute patches of hairlines are visible in the fields, as well as a few smudges of dust—one located on the outer periphery above UNITED STATES on the upper reverse, and another between the two “Ls” in DOLLAR. This brilliant, Choice BU-quality specimen will make any Trade dollar collector beam with pride.
