This amazingly all-white 1877-CC quarter dollar really looks like it was grabbed immediately after it sped out of the Carson City Mint’s coin press and then was carefully stored for over 140 years. It looks like it was freshly struck yesterday. High grade Mint State examples of this common date-denomination generally display great appeal anyway, but this piece scores bonus points in this category. The surfaces on both sides are aglow with blazing luster. Satiny-white mint bloom gives all of the raised devices, which are 100% fully defined, vibrancy and a dusted-with-powered-sugar appearance. Raised die-polish lines lacing the fields add a semi-prooflike effect to this stunning specimen. The small, scattered contact marks (most noticeably one on Lady Liberty’s lower-left arm—facing) are not distractions.

Any collector would gain much satisfaction from owning this well-preserved quarter dollar with a “CC” mintmark.

The two small “tongues” visible beneath the two 7s in the date diagnostically attribute this piece as a repunched date variety.
